Product Details

Founded by Dan Kasoff in New York City, Florenza (active from 1948 to 1981) was famous for its ornate, historical revivals and its signature antiqued 24k gold-plated finishes, often called "Florenza Gold". This ewer or pitcher is actually a perfume vinaigrette locket. The center is hinged and swings open sideways. Originally, it contained a small cotton ball. The wearer would drop liquid perfume onto the cotton, and the open-work filigree metal acted as a mini diffuser throughout the day. Mechanical Function: The side hinge moves smoothly. However, the closure latch has worn loose over time and comes unlatched very easily. It can swing open unexpectedly during active movement, so it is recommended either for static vanity display, collection showcase, or for a buyer experienced in adjusting vintage jewelry clasps.
