Alice Caviness was a prominent mid-century American fashion model turned high-end jewelry designer who launched her company in Long Island, New York, in the late 1940s. Unlike major mass-production costume jewellers of the era, Caviness ran a boutique operation with strict quality control and limited manufacturing runs. Her pieces are highly prized today for their distinctive, imaginative material combinations and exceptional dimensional depth. Because Alice Caviness jewelry was made in smaller quantities, it is highly sought after by costume jewellery collectors. Features of the brooch: •Textured gold-tone leaves. • Bright turquoise cabochons arranged in a floral cluster. These are probably simulated. • Small red rhinestone accents. • Signed oval cartouche on the reverse. All red rhinestones and turquoise cabochons are intact. There is some wear evident which is to be expected from a vintage brooch. Clasp works fine. Measures 2.5” by just under 2.5”.
