It was officially produced by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) for the United States Mint as part of the limited-edition 2001 American Buffalo Coin & Currency Set. The BEP used genuine currency paper and authentic intaglio steel-engraving plates to recreate this iconic piece of American currency history in crisp detail. Per the original US Mint design specifications, this replica is printed without signatures or serial numbers.
