Product Details

A charming little teal-green transferware creamer with hand-applied gold trim, the Togo pattern wrapping the embossed baluster body, a riverside scene of a castle town with sailing boats below a flowering branch border. SPECS: approx 6.5 in tall - scalloped gilt rim, marked Togo Colonial Pottery Stoke England with the W monogram. HISTORY: Colonial Pottery of Stoke was the trade name used by F. Winkle and Co. from 1890. The Togo pattern is named for Admiral Togo, the Japanese naval hero of 1905, which places the design in the Edwardian years around 1905 to 1915. Green is notably scarcer than the usual blue Togo, and the gilt highlights mark this as a better-grade piece. CONDITION: antique with light gilt wear to the rim and handle and age spotting. Confirm spout and handle chips and hairlines on hand inspection.
