The Idaho 1/4 Goldback honors Justitia, the virtue of justice. She stands with scales, sword and blindfold, symbols of fairness and restraint. The smallest Goldback yet, measuring 1.99 inches x 3.228 inches! Goldbacks resemble standard paper currency in shape but are made with thin layers of 24-karat gold. Initially introduced in Utah following the Utah Legal Tender Act of 2019, they serve as a voluntary currency, allowing transactions at the vendor's discretion. Since then, additional states have each launched their own Goldbacks in subsequent years, with Idaho recently becoming the eighth state to adopt this unique form of currency.
