2008 Beijing Olympics Series III 4-Coin Silver Proof Set is part of the Chinese Mint’s official commemorative program for the XXIX Olympiad (Beijing 2008), issued by the People’s Bank of China.  These sets were released in three series (I, II, and III), each containing four 1-ounce .999 fine silver proof coins (totaling 4 oz of silver per set). Initially costing $499, they celebrate China’s cultural heritage alongside the Olympic spirit under the Games’ theme “One World, One Dream.” The designs of Series III Set: • Lion Dance (top-left, with the colorful lion and figure) • Beijing Opera / Peking Opera (top-right, with the elaborate costume and mask) • Beijing Tea Stall / Courtyard scene (bottom-left, with the building and colorful mask/figure) • Yangge Dance (bottom-right, with the flowing dancer and red floral elements) Original Mint Outer box, wooden box, coin, capsule, and certificate of authenticity for each included. Together the boxes can be arranged to reveal a face.
