A rare and delightfully quirky vintage Empress 3-piece salt and pepper shaker set from 1950s Japan. This hand-painted porcelain set features two charming skull-shaped nodder shakers with elongated necks that fit into a matching floral base. Gently tap each skull and watch it bob back and forth, making this an eye-catching conversation piece and a wonderful addition to Halloween décor or a vintage novelty collection. The shakers are beautifully decorated with hand-painted floral details and raised gold accents. Each shaker has three dispensing holes on the top of the head and retains its original plastic stopper. The coordinating base is adorned with colorful hand-painted roses and floral motifs and is labeled “Salt” and “Pepper” in elegant gold cursive. The underside of the base is stamped Japan. Condition: Very good vintage condition. No chips or cracks. There are a few small paint flecks on the base consistent with age and use. Crazing present.
