Beautiful early 20th-century patriotic hand-embroidered linen panel measuring approximately 22” x 22”. Features the motto “Just As the Sun Went Down” with an American flag, cannon, and coastal landscape. Hand embroidered with fine mercerized cotton embroidery floss (possibly silk) on linen, likely worked from a commercial transfer pattern with a softly hand-tinted background. Dating to approximately 1900–1925. A wonderful piece of antique Americana and decorative needlework. Unframed with raw edges as originally prepared for mounting or framing. Displays beautifully with expected age-related wear. 🧵This is not a mass-produced kit from the 1940s or 1950s. Condition: Displays beautifully overall. Please note there are a few small age-related spots visible on the linen, along with minor edge fraying from age and storage. These do not detract from the overall presentation and are consistent with an antique textile of this age.
