1892-1893 U.S. Columbian Exposition Declaration of Independence So Calle Dollar This medal was made for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition to celebrate the 400th year anniversary of Christopher Columbus landing in the new world. The medal depicts Columbus's discovery of American, the signing of the Declaration of Independence, busts of George Washington & Christopher Columbus, and the landing of the Pilgrims. The antique, so-called dollar, is a scarce example of a unique piece of art from the engraver. It is believed the designer is Rudolph Laubenheimer, due to the R.L. designer initials on the reverse next to the world "pilgrims". Please look over the pictures.
