The Missing Vertical Seam: Notice how there is no sharp, vertical mold seam running up the side of the neck or straight through the top of the lip. On 20th-century machine-made bottles, a vertical seam runs cleanly all the way from the base to the very top. The absence of a seam on the neck strongly points to a blown-in-mold technique, dating this bottle to the late 1800s or very early 1900s.
