A striking hand-carved wooden wall mask depicting a Chinese emperor or deity figure, likely mid-20th century. Expressive carved features include furrowed brows, a full mustache and beard, and an open mouth revealing inset bone or horn teeth. The eyes are inlaid glass with dark pupils, giving remarkable lifelike depth. The elaborate crown-style headdress is intricately pierced and carved with floral and scroll motifs, flanked by curved horn-like finials. The reverse is hollow-carved in traditional mask-making style, with a flat base for wall display. Measures approx. 8.5–9” tall. Good vintage condition with wear consistent with age (see photos for detail). A wonderful piece of Chinese folk/decorative art.
