Vintage hand-carved wooden wall mask depicting a bearded Chinese deity or warrior-general figure, wearing an elaborate tall crown with a pierced, crenellated top piece and a pair of carved birds perched at either side of the headdress. A central floral medallion sits at the crown’s front. The eyes are inset with a contrasting material for a lifelike gaze, and the open, smiling mouth reveals carved teeth with white inlay. The face shows fine detail in the brow, mustache, and flowing beard, framed by a stylized carved leaf or flame-form collar at the base. The reverse is hollow-carved with a metal hanging bracket fastened with visible screws. Acquired directly in China as part of a private collection assembled over several decades.
