A wonderfully expressive hand-carved wooden wall mask depicting a laughing bald sage or immortal figure — likely inspired by Shou Xing (the Chinese God of Longevity), a popular figure in Chinese folk art symbolizing long life and wisdom. The face is carved with a joyful, laughing expression, complete with inlaid glass eyes and visible bone or ivory teeth. The long, flowing beard is exceptionally detailed, carved with realistic wavy texture that curls elegantly at the ends. The reverse is traditionally hollow-carved for a lightweight, flat-mount wall hang. Measures approx. 9” tall. Excellent detail and craftsmanship; good vintage condition with wear consistent with age (see photos).
