A beautiful mid-19th century Thomas Dimmock & Co. Pearl Ware pedestal comport in the Elgin pattern, produced in Staffordshire, England. The Elgin pattern features an incredibly delicate floral design with winding branches, blossoms and tiny scrolling details, all surrounded by those gorgeous intricate borders. This particular example is decorated entirely in a soft blue-grey transfer — we were even able to find the same Elgin floral pattern in a polychrome, hand-colored version, making this blue-and-white variation especially fun to see. The underside bears the printed ELGIN pattern cartouche along with the faint impressed PEARL WARE mark associated with Thomas Dimmock & Co. And the form! Rather than a standard plate, she's a low pedestal comport / footed serving dish, measuring approximately 9.75" across × 2.75" tall. There is beautiful age-related crazing, particularly to the underside, along with scattered tiny kiln/production imperfections and the kind of honest patina you would expect from a piece approaching two centuries old.
