Condition: Fair / Poor (Read description and view photos for spine damage) Spines/Bindings: Heavy cosmetic wear, chipping, and deep peeling across multiple leather spines. Two volumes have severe loss to the leather backing, exposing the underlying binding material. Hinges/Covers: Outer leather is fragile and shedding. Boards remain attached but show heavy shelf wear, rubbed corners, and surface scuffing. Interior Pages: Clean and tightly bound. The text blocks are intact with minimal foxing or toning. No loose or missing pages observed in these volumes. Notes: A partial 8-volume subset from the 1880s Houghton, Mifflin and Company edition.
