This beautiful vintage 1950's-1970's silver-plated handled serving tray by Oneida Ltd. measures 15" diameter and 19.5" across (handle to handle). Oneida Silversmith is a noble American manufacturer that began tableware production in 1877. The flat serving surface with its scrollwork design is called "Georgian." The sturdy and heavily elegant side handles are decorated with a baroque-style design. The rim of the tray with its raised twisted rope motif called a "Gadroon" border. On the back is engraved "OL" hallmark and a distinctive central heraldic shield flanked by two rampant lions over the words "Oneida USA." *Note in the language of heraldry and coat-of-arm design, the term "rampant" means and animal is depicted standing on its hind legs.* This beautiful round butler-style tray has a gorgeous shine on it with very minimal surface scratches.
