22”. Box clasp. In traditional flat cloisonné, the enamel paste is filled completely to the top of the wire cells and then polished flat so the surface feels like smooth glass. With raised-relief cloisonné, the craftsperson intentionally leaves the enamel layers thicker or layers them unevenly. The flower petals are sculpted or built up to sit above the surrounding base enamel and the gold-gilded metal wires. It’s a higher end cloisonné because of the extra work it takes to achieve.
