In Slavic folklore, The Leshy is a powerful ruler and protector of the forest. Like other "Greenman" archetypes, The Leshy is an embodiment of the Wilds. Not necessarily someone you'd like to meet on a dark evening. He is a shapeshifter and will often lead wanderers astray. To me he is a reminder to respect the wilds, and to honor and care for the world around us. A reminder to work WITH the power and the majesty of the wild world around us, but to tread carefully as Nature is not often kind.
