Product Details

A Bolivian 8 Reales silver cob is a historic, hand-struck Spanish colonial coin minted at the legendary Potosí Mint (El Cerro Rico) in modern-day Bolivia. Famously known worldwide as a "Piece of Eight" or the Spanish dollar, these irregularly shaped silver coins served as a global currency from the late 16th century until they were replaced by machine-struck milled coinage in the 1760s and 1770s. Irregular Shape: Because they were hand-cut rather than machine-pressed, every cob features a crude, completely unique outline with varying thicknesses.
