This is genuine Uruguayan amethyst with gorgeous cathedral formation and a stunning center crystal cluster. It’s one of the nicest display geodes I’ve picked up. Excellent crystal quality- 18 inches; 22.4 poub * The crystal faces are sharp and well terminated, not rounded or etched. * The surfaces have a strong vitreous (glassy) luster, which is a hallmark of good Uruguayan material. * The crystals are relatively clean, with only minor natural inclusions. Color * The color is a true lavender-to-medium violet, not heat-treated or artificially enhanced. * There is good depth of color in the interior, while the outer edge transitions naturally to lighter amethyst and quartz. Interesting feature One thing that caught my eye is the small honey-brown crystal visible in the center of your close-up. It could be: * Calcite (most likely) * Goethite/iron oxide staining on a crystal * A small included mineral that grew after the amethyst It’s a natural feature many collectors look for!
