1904 Indian Head Penny. You can still clearly read "Liberty" on the Obverse, and see the separation of the individual lines of the shield of the Reverse. Design Details Obverse: A profile of Lady Liberty facing left, wearing a coronet inscribed with "LIBERTY." She is wearing a feathered headdress, which was historically worn by Native American men rather than women, but the design became incredibly popular with the American public. The word "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the date "1904" encircle her bust. Reverse: An oak wreath intertwined with ribbons. A small federal shield is positioned at the top of the wreath, sitting directly between the two tips of the branches. In the center, the denomination "ONE CENT" is written in two lines.
