Lot of nine original vintage color photographs documenting a late-1970s visit to Gyeongbokgung Palace and the former National Museum of Korea in Seoul, South Korea. The photographs include a large group of uniformed military personnel and civilian visitors outside the museum complex; three views of Gyeonghoeru Pavilion and its surrounding pond; exterior and interior views of Geunjeongjeon Hall, including the royal throne; an information sign for the Ten-story Stone Pagoda of Gyeongcheonsa Temple, National Treasure No. 86; and two views of a period English-language Gyeongbokgung Palace history board. The National Museum of Korea occupied the pagoda-inspired building inside the palace grounds from 1972 through 1985, helping date this series. Based on other dated photographs from the same album, the images are believed to have been taken around 1977. Each photograph measures approximately 4 7/8 by 3 1/2 inches and has rounded corners. Vintage condition with noticeable reddish or pink color shifting, fading, light scratches, dust, minor surface marks, and normal edge and corner wear. Two information-board photographs are very similar views. Please examine all images carefully for condition. Sold together as one original period lot.
