Antique doorbell backplate - beautiful cast iron antique doorbell backplate in its original bronzy/ gold finish. This architectural salvage piece is a fine example of Aesthetic Movement craftsmanship and design. The piece is 7" top to bottom, 4" across at its widest point, and 5/16" thick. The opening (where the button goes) is 7/16" in diameter. The only mark I see is a raised 201 on the back. The design of the backplate is a thistle and leaves in relief; the border of the piece has a hammered texture. The piece is in excellent antique condition, with wear in the appropriate places, like around where the push button would be. I've very gently wiped off surface dirt only, leaving the original finish untouched. Please note that you are purchasing the backplate only. Note that there are no holes for screws; the backplate is meant to be attached with the doorbell mechanism. Many such mechanisms are available online if you do not already have one.
