Large, colorful cobaltoan calcite with malachite specimen from the Mashamba West Mine, Kolwezi, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The specimen features dense coverage of soft pink cobaltoan calcite crystals with attractive bladed to pointed crystal forms across the display face. Rich green malachite provides striking contrast along one side of the specimen, accompanied by lighter matrix minerals that further highlight the pink crystal growth. At nearly one pound, this is a substantial cabinet specimen with strong color, excellent coverage and an attractive three-dimensional presentation. This specimen comes from the Allen Winans Collection and retains its original DanZ Rockshop collection/locality label, specimen number AW 1720.
