Charming vintage figural bird brooch dating approximately to the 1940s–1950s, featuring a large faceted purple glass/crystal belly set into a sculptural gold-tone body. The bird is accented with small purple/AB rhinestones along the wing and a dark rhinestone eye. Its large transparent purple belly is beautifully faceted and catches the light in shades ranging from violet to deep amethyst. The reverse features an older-style pin assembly with an unusually long pin stem extending well beyond the rollover safety clasp. A tiny impressed/open C-type maker’s mark is present near the hinge; maker has not been positively identified. Almost positive this is a Coro piece. Measures 2” long and weighs 8.27 grams. Good vintage condition with all major stones present. There is visible age-related gold-tone finish loss and wear, particularly to the reverse and raised areas, consistent with the age of the piece.
