Antique Japanese Meiji Taisho Porcelain Geisha Sake Cup Woven Beautiful antique Japanese porcelain sake cup dating to approximately the late Meiji to Taisho period, featuring a traditional hand-painted portrait of a Japanese woman/geisha. The porcelain cup is encased around the exterior in a finely woven bamboo/rattan basket-weave jacket, a distinctive decorative technique found on Japanese wares produced during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The interior features a delicate portrait with black, red and green painted details along with gilt accents. The rim shows visible age-related wear to the gold decoration, adding to the authentic antique character of the piece.
