Antique Victorian sterling silver mesh coin purse, dating to approximately the late 1800s to early 1900s. This beautiful purse features an ornate embossed repoussé sterling silver frame with a charming figural cherub kiss-lock clasp, finely woven silver mesh body, chain handle and original ball fringe. The purse bears worn maker/pseudo-hallmarks along with the number “1576M.” The marks have previously been attributed to Kerr & Thorne; however, the maker has not been conclusively identified, so no definitive maker attribution is being made. This piece weighs approximately 57 grams and is in EXCELLENT antique condition with only light wear from age and use. The mesh is clean and retains its shape beautifully, the clasp functions properly, and the overall presentation is excellent.
