The Artist: Raymond Wesley * Heritage: He was a Tsimshian Indigenous artist. * Life Timeline: Born on January 19, 1935, in Port Essington, British Columbia, along the Skeena River. He later passed away. * Career: He began carving professionally in the 1960s under the tutelage of Wilfred Stevenson. He was a well-recognized figure in Northwest Coast art; his most notable achievements include being commissioned around 1970 by Simon Fraser University to create two permanent large-scale totem poles for their campus.
