This item is an authentic vintage Pacific Northwest Coast model 19 1/2" Tall totem pole hand-carved and painted by the prominent First Nations artist Raymond (Ray) Wesley. It has a wing span of 20". The paint is original. The makers info is on the back in his tradition scribe. The Artist: Raymond Wesley * Heritage: He was a Tsimshian Indigenous artist. * Life Timeline: Born on January 19, 1935, in Port Essington, British Columbia, along the Skeena River. He later passed away. * Career: He began carving professionally in the 1960s under the tutelage of Wilfred Stevenson. He was a well-recognized figure in Northwest Coast art; his most notable achievements include being commissioned around 1970 by Simon Fraser University to create two permanent large-scale totem poles for their campus. His works are also preserved in institutional collections like the University of Victoria Art Museum. *
