This is an original vintage June 8, 1948 wire service news photo (ACME / Newspaper Enterprise Association) documenting a fatal train-car collision near Kalamazoo, Michigan with deceased victims laying in a ditch alongside railroad tracks. The photo shows an overturned, crushed automobile lying upside down next to Grand Trunk Western railroad tracks, with bystanders and first responders gathered beside the scene. The top of the photo features an inverted, original wire telephoto caption slug dated "SB1-6/8/48-KALAMAZOO, MICH" detail-documenting the crash involving a train hitting a vehicle carrying members of the Brown family. The back features original purple newsroom reference ink stamps, date stamps ("6-11'48"), pencil editorial markings, and red grease pencil notation. Standard press photo measuring approximately 8 x 10 inches. Condition is good vintage; clean contrast with light handling wear and edge silvering typical for archival press photos. Black and white snapshot photo of a dead woman in a casket surrounded by flowers in a funeral home. Dated from 1956 on the back.
