An extraordinary antique statement necklace dating to the late Victorian/Edwardian era, circa 1890–1915, featuring a beautifully dimensional carved green floral centerpiece set into an elaborate engraved brass pendant. This is one of those pieces that becomes more fascinating the closer you look. The substantial pendant is richly decorated with hand-worked botanical and foliate motifs, surrounding a raised green carving depicting dimensional flowers, leaves and foliage. Above the pendant, ornate openwork connectors combine architectural lines with graceful scrolling details, while a tiny coordinating green glass bead provides the perfect finishing accent. The centerpiece itself is particularly intriguing. Under magnification, the green material displays natural-looking curved internal banding and variations from deeper green to softer, cloudy green tones. No obvious gas bubbles were observed. Gem-tester readings repeatedly register in the general jade/emerald/chrysoprase-nephrite range
