In 1935 Florida, World War I veteran Arlen Wagner sees imminent death in his fellow train passengers' eyes. He and 19-year-old Paul Brickhill leave the train and find an isolated Gulf Coast inn called the Cypress House. Run by Rebecca Cady, the inn faces a brutal hurricane and a corrupt local sheriff.
