Product Details

Original 1985 US "Big Ring" pressing of the Misfits' Legacy of Brutality on Plan 9 Records (PL9-06) — identifiable by the large-diameter label ring on both sides, distinguishing it from later small-ring represses. Cover art by Raymond Pettibon, whose iconic graphic imagery defined the visual language of American hardcore and punk throughout the SST/Plan 9 era. Produced by Spot and the Misfits, Legacy of Brutality was the third and final Misfits album released on Plan 9 and compiles outtakes, demos, and alternate versions from the Glenn Danzig era — recorded between 1977 and 1983 and released two years after the band's breakup. Fourteen tracks including "Who Killed Marilyn?," "TV Casualty," "Angelfuck," "Some Kinda Hate," "Where Eagles Dare," "Halloween II," "Teenagers from Mars," and "Hybrid Moments" — songs that had circulated on out-of-print 7"s and were largely unavailable to collectors at the time of this release, making Legacy of Brutality an essential document of the Misfits' complete catalog. The big ring pressing is the first-run copy, and the one collectors actively seek above later small-ring represses. Original 1985 Plan 9 big ring pressings are among the most desirable Misfits collectibles in existence — increasingly scarce in strong shape 40 years on, and a mandatory piece for any serious punk or horror rock collection. Record and sleeve are VG or better.
