Exceptional antique/ Art Nouveau brooch, featuring an elongated Dragon’s Breath glass cabochon surrounded by elaborate openwork filigree. The glass displays the characteristic dramatic color play that makes early Dragon’s Breath so collectible. Depending on the angle and lighting, the cabochon shifts through fiery orange-red, blue, violet and green, with distinctive internal ripples and flashes visible throughout. Dragon’s Breath is an early Bohemian/Czech art glass, produced around the turn of the 20th century and sometimes historically marketed as an imitation opal.
