Striking antique carving/serving fork featuring a genuine-looking natural stag antler handle, ornate silver-tone ferrule, long two-tine steel fork, and unusual folding mechanical guard. A fantastic old kitchen tool with tons of character and an authentic aged appearance. The natural antler handle has wonderful texture and variation, while the decorative metal collar adds an elegant Victorian/Edwardian look. The folding guard mechanism makes this a particularly interesting piece for collectors of antique cutlery, carving utensils, primitive kitchenware, and sporting or lodge décor. No maker's marks or identifying stamps were found. Condition: Antique pre-owned condition with substantial age-related oxidation, rust, patina, discoloration and surface wear to the steel fork and mechanical components. Antler handle shows age and natural variation. Metal ferrule has tarnish/patina. No maker's marks observed. Item has intentionally not been polished or restored in order to preserve its aged character.
