Vintage 1970s Mexico Black Velvet Painting Horse Native American Indigenous Portrait Signed Carved Wood Frame Western 40” Vintage 1970s Mexican Black Velvet Horse Painting Native American Signed 40” Fantastic large vintage circa 1970s Mexican black velvet painting featuring a dramatic rearing black horse with feather adornments and a ghostly Indigenous/Native American-inspired portrait emerging from the smoky blue-black background. The classic black velvet ground gives the painting incredible depth, particularly through the horse’s glossy blue-black highlights, golden hooves and eye, white feather details and atmospheric portrait in the background. The painting is artist signed in the lower right corner. I have not positively identified the artist and am selling it based upon the artwork itself rather than an attribution. The reverse of the stretcher is clearly stamped MADE IN MEXICO, documenting its Mexican origin. Measurements Height: 40” Width: 27.5”
