Beautiful, authentic piece of early 20th-century textile history. This adult-sized antique boudoir cap (also known as a bed bonnet or nightcap) dates to the late Edwardian into the early 1920s flapper era. Given its rich, dark coloration, it may have originally been intended as part of a formal Victorian/Edwardian mourning ensemble. The cap is completely hand-crocheted from structural, mid-weight thread featuring openwork medallions and a beautiful scalloped edge trim. It is heavily adorned with its original wide silk taffeta ribbon, woven seamlessly through the frame and tied into large, prominent statement bows.Approximate Dimensions (Measured Flat): Width: Approx. 11 inches / Height/Depth: Approx. 9 inches /Fits an average adult head size comfortably. Excellent antique structural condition. The hand-crocheted lace is robust, crisp, and completely free of loose threads, unravelling, or structural holes.
