DEVO's contribution to the 1981 animated cult film Heavy Metal includes their upbeat cover of Lee Dorsey's "Working in a Coal Mine" and the track "Through Being Cool". Despite not being a heavy metal band, their quirky new wave sound fit the sci-fi, dystopian vibe of the movie. Devo's Tracks in Heavy Metalworking in a Coal Mine: Played during the end credits of the movie and added to the official vinyl/cassette soundtrack release. Through Being Cool: Featured during the prominent bar/sequence scene in the film, though it was famously left off the physical LP release.
