This is a museum-quality colonial reproduction blown at the Vandermark Glasshouse in Liberty Village (located in Flemington, New Jersey). The Liberty Village glass house was co-founded in 1972 by master glass artist Jerry Vandermark and Doug Merritt. They specialized in recreating early American and European blown glassware. This "Marbrie Loop" or "Pulled-Loop" pitcher utilizes a classic technique where white opalescent glass rods are melted into an aquamarine base and pulled upward into uniform loops before being free-blown into shape Pieces signed directly by the glasshouse like this one and dated during this mid-70s era represent the studio's peak production of traditional art glass. Their pieces are featured in museum collections like in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian and the Chrysler Museum.
