Product Details
Antique 19th-century Russian brass samovar attributed to the Sudakov factory of Tula, Russia. Large and impressive example measuring approximately 19" tall, featuring the traditional cylindrical “banka” form, ornate spigot, side handles with dark turned grips, wooden lid fittings, chimney/crown, vented base and square pedestal feet. The samovar bears a Cyrillic Sudakov maker’s badge/mark as well as multiple impressed medal/award-style stamps around the body. The Sudakov samovar factory was established in Tula in 1861 and operated during the 19th century. Tula was historically one of Russia’s major centers of samovar production. Appears quite complete with its lid, chimney/crown, spigot, handles and fittings present. Brass has a bright polished appearance overall with areas of natural tarnish, patina, discoloration, surface scratches and wear consistent with age. The wooden fittings show age and finish wear as pictured.
