Vintage pair of J. Willfred / Charles Sadek Import Company decorative plates, hand painted in Portugal and marked “Peint à la Main.” Companion plates are from J. Willfred’s French-inspired pottery line commonly identified as Blue French. Each features a different Breton/Quimper-style folk figure surrounded by hand-painted flowers and foliage, with a scalloped edge and dark blue rim. One plate depicts a traditionally dressed figure holding a bird; the companion plate depicts a woman among flowers and fruit. Their coordinated but different scenes make them especially attractive displayed together. Approximately 9 inches in diameter. Marked on reverse: J. Willfred Charles Sadek Import Company, Inc. Made in Portugal Peint à la Main Vintage Portuguese pottery inspired by traditional French Quimper/Breton faience. These are not antique French Quimper pottery. Very good vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs noted. Hand-painted decoration remains bright and attractive with minor variations and imperfections consistent with hand painting and manufacture.
