Original 1986 historical documentary print titled “Removing Liberty’s Flame, 1984.” This vintage black‑and‑white photograph captures workers dismantling the modified 1916 torch flame from high scaffolding above New York Harbor, with the original Twin Towers visible in the distant skyline. Published for the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island Centennial educational portfolio. Lower margin text reads: “Cut and fitted with glass panes and electric lights in 1916, the flame has leaked ever since. The biggest change in the restored statue will be her gilded copper flame, an exact copy of the original.” Credited to the National Park Service, Statue of Liberty National Monument.
