Product Details

CASE FILE 041 — I AM JOSEPH An extraordinary handwritten Torah manuscript fragment preserving one of the most dramatic moments in Genesis: Judah’s plea for Benjamin and Joseph’s emotional revelation to his brothers — “I am Joseph.” The fragment contains Genesis 44:18–46:4, beginning with Vayigash — “And Judah approached” — and continuing through Joseph revealing his identity, Jacob learning that his son is still alive, and God reassuring Jacob before the journey into Egypt. Written by hand on animal-skin parchment in a traditional 42-line Torah format, the script is consistent with the broader Maghrebi/Sephardic scribal tradition. The fragment has traditionally been attributed to Morocco and is believed to date approximately to the late 18th or early 19th century, though its exact place and date of production remain part of the investigation.
