Classic 5th-century BC Persian gold daric (8.32g). Obverse shows the running hero-king holding bow and spear; reverse is the standard rectangular incuse punch. Graded Choice VF by NGC Ancients with strong 4/5 strike and 4/5 surface (cert 8521704-021). These were the standard gold coins of the Persian Empire during the time of the Book of Ezra — the same era when Jewish exiles returned from Babylon under Persian kings and the Temple was rebuilt in Jerusalem. A tangible piece of the empire that shaped biblical history.
