Rare! Historically significant 5 1/8-inch square saucer manufactured by the Empire Porcelain Co. in England.This collectible souvenir was produced in anticipation of the Coronation of H.M. King Edward VIII scheduled for May 12, 1937. Because the King abdicated the throne in December 1936 to marry Wallis Simpson, the coronation never took place—making this pre-produced item a highly sought-after "abdication anomaly" for British Royal collectors.
