An authentic, highly collectible silver-plated expandable table trivet (dessous de plat). This exquisite luxury piece carries incredible historical provenance, manufactured by the renowned French metalwork foundry EK&S and originally retailed through the legendary Au Bon Marché department store in Paris. The underside features verified original stamps: the official geometric multi-tiered factory sizing/gauge stamp 80. Au Bon Marche Paris appears stamped. The interlocking two-piece body splits down the center, pulling apart smoothly to transition from a compact circle into an elongated oval configuration for hot platters or fish kettles. Equipped with its original low-profile caster wheel feet on the underside to glide seamlessly. The mechanical extension slide works and glides on its wheels. The structural metalwork is firm with no breaks, but is missing one screw. See photos for vintage condition.
