Vintage French Santon de Provence terracotta doll, signed by artist. Materials: Made of hand-painted terracotta clay with traditional fabric clothing. Significance: These figurines represent villagers in Provence, France, and are often used in nativity scenes. Size: 12” tall. Date: Created circa 1950s to 1960s. Simone Jouglas actively made these hand-dressed terracotta figures in her Marseille studio from the late 1930s until the mid-20th century.
