Up for grabs is an original 1977 US 1st Pressing of saxophonist Tom Scott’s brilliant jazz-fusion album, Blow It Out. Identified by the Columbia Records Pressing Plant, Santa Maria mark ("S" etched in runouts), this release via Lou Adler's Ode Records and Epic (PE 34966) is a prime artifact of late-1970s jazz-funk, smooth jazz, and TV theme royalty. Produced by Tom Scott and Hank Cicalo, the album features an all-star lineup of studio session legends including Eric Gale, Richard Tee, Chuck Rainey, Steve Gadd, and Hugh Masekela. Best known for containing "Gotcha" (the iconic theme song to the hit TV series Starsky & Hutch), this original Santa Maria pressing is an essential holy grail for 1970s jazz-funk collectors, sample heads, and vinyl crate diggers.
