Striking antique portrait brooch featuring an old photograph of two solemn young children beneath a large domed clear covering. The faded gray, cream and sepia tones give the image a wonderfully haunting, timeworn quality. Large round format with simple metal rim and long pin back. The photograph shows significant age character including fading, discoloration, spotting/foxing and surface irregularities visible beneath the covering. Metal reverse shows oxidation, discoloration and age-related wear. Exact age, subjects and original purpose are unknown. Sold as found and photographed.
