Antique collection of Ohio Archaeological and Historical Society Publications, comprising 8 volumes: Volumes I, II, III, IV, VI, VII, VIII, and IX. Volume V is not present. These substantial historical volumes contain early scholarly material relating to Ohio archaeology, Native American history, pioneer and colonial history, prehistoric earthworks and mounds, local history, military sites, and the development of Ohio and the Northwest Territory. The books include illustrations, portraits, and maps; the photographs show an impressive folding 1889 Map of Fort Ancient. An especially interesting feature is the provenance: at least one volume bears the decorative private library bookplate of W. C. Faust, reading “Legere Plenium Hominem Facit.” The set is uniformly bound in dark cloth with gilt spine lettering. The books show age-related wear, including rubbing, scuffing, bumped/frayed corners and spine ends, surface marks, and some wear to the bindings. Pages show expected toning and occasional spotting from age. Please note that Volume V is missing, making this an 8-volume group rather than a complete Vol. I–IX run.
